Student Registration - Course Appeals

Starting Monday, September 15, 2025, students are be able to submit course appeals to request entry into course sections where they do not meet the rules or requirements.

Appeal Scenarios:

Course Capacity - 'Class is Full.'
Prerequisites - 'You do not meet the course prerequisite.'
Class Rules - 'This course is not open to Students in your School or Program.'

Registration Appeal Approvers:

Department Class Admins and/or the Course Instructor - as determined by the Department. Approvers can Approve/Deny student submissions via the Vergil Registration Request Log.

When can students submit Appeals:

Appeals are date driven and can be activated to begin accepting registration requests for all Department Courses at the start of the term or modified for individual course records for different date periods.

Registration Appeals

If allowed, students are able to initiate an appeal for entry into a course when they do not meet the requirements (e.g., prerequisites, class rules, enrollment cap.).

A few things must be in place for an 'Appeal' button to display to the student:

The course must have their Allow Appeals setting set to 'Yes"
The Appeals Start Date for the term or class record on the Class Schedule must be set to a current or prior date.
The Appeals End Date must be set to a future date.

These dates can be modified on individual course records and set to different ranges for each section.

Registration Appeal Approvers are determined and assigned by the department who mounted the course.

ROLE: Instructor
IS THIS REQUIRED?At least one of the approvers below are required to process Appeal Requests.: Instructors on all class records under the department will be responsible for approving appeals into their respective courses. Courses with multiple instructors only require one approval.

ROLE: Class Final Approver
IS THIS REQUIRED?At least one of the approvers below are required to process Appeal Requests.: Class Admins will be responsible for reviewing and approving appeal requests into their Department Courses.
