Class Rules

In Course Management, you have the ability to limit registration to specific Student Groups, and, within those groups, to further restrict to students within particular Programs. No rules on a course means that registration and enrollment are open to all students in all Schools.

Please remember to always check the Course Rules on all of your active course sections -- and keep the following in mind:

  • Just because they are available in Course Management does not mean that you need to add Course Rules to your sections. Note that heavily restricting registration and enrollment through the imposition of Course Rules may cause serious issues for student registration in SSOL.
  • In the past, a full 75 percent of courses did not have rules in SIS attached to them -- and may continue this way. It is not a requirement to add Course Rules if none existed previously.
  • Course Rules can be continuously updated even when registration is open; SSOL will update very hour with any changes made in Course Management.
