Topics Descriptions

Within the New Vergil system, class administrators have the ability to add a description for various course topic sections within a singular course. These descriptions will be visible to students interested in registering for course topics and provide further clarity on the topics' components.

How to Add a Description (Course Management Systemt)

Adding a description to a course topic must be completed in the inventory while initially proposing a new course or modifying an approved or existing course. The following images will illustrate the correct steps for adding a topic title and description, along with the final result.

  1.  Image 1: Click "Add Topic," highlighted in yellow, to enter the topic class title and description. Don't forget to save your recent changes.
  2. Image 2: After Saving, this will be the format of your topic class title and description
The 1st page of the course proposal document. Highlighted in yellow is the "Add a topic" option which will produce a white pop-up square with two data entry sections. The 1st section is for the title, which has a blue box directing users to "Type in the Topic Class Title Here." The second section is the description which directs users to "Type in Topic Description Here."

Once a user has added the description to a topic in the inventory, the next step is to add the topics course and its sections to the schedule, which will mirror image 1. To verify that the topic description is correctly in place, click on the three white dots on the page, which will reveal a page identical to image 2. On this page you will find both the class and topic descriptions labeled as follows:

  • Black: The course description which provides a generalized overview of the course and the contents of its various topics. This will be consistent across every topic section.
  • Green: The topic description, which will vary across each topic section to reflect the section's subject and content.

*the class and topic descriptions will not have the colors depicted in images 1 and 2.
